Calgary Personal Injury Lawyers

Process

In lockstep with you from start to finish.

1 Treat your injuries.

After a traumatic incident that causes personal injury, seek medical treatment as soon as possible from your family doctor or a hospital.

Some injuries (fractured bones, soft tissue injuries, etc.) may be apparent after the incident. Other injuries (psychological trauma, concussion, etc.) may not present immediately.

Your doctor or treatment provider will diagnose your injuries and develop a treatment plan that may include physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic adjustments, dental treatments or psychological counseling.

These should be covered by vehicle insurance or health benefits plans. If you’re not being compensated, your lawyer will explain your options for (and chances of) finding restitution.

2 The legal claim.

After being checked out by a doctor and consulting your insurance company, you can decide to pursue legal action. You generally have two years from the date of the accident to pursue a claim, but this isn’t set in stone. The sooner you contact us, the more likely you’ll be within your rights to act.

Your first meeting with us will be an exploration of the incident. You’ll get an honest opinion about your case and your options moving forward.

Once you've retained us, you’ll have assistance gathering and presenting evidence to prove injury, loss of income or employment, day-to-day difficulties and a need for treatment.

You’ll have guidance for navigating the legal process and all its stages, which may include meetings with other lawyers, medical examinations, or court appearances. All communications with the defendants and their insurers will go through us until the claim is resolved.

3 Resolving your claim.

With the evidence necessary to move forward with your personal injury claim, the goal will be to make you whole so you can move forward. This could include a negotiated resolution, mediation or a trial — and you’ll be prepared for anything.
